Jefferson Starship looking cool and gorgeous.
People get mad when you treat them how they treat you.
Q:I was around in the 80's when Paul quit and took the name Jefferson with him, and was not a fan of Starship at the time. However 30 years later I am ready to take a second look and look forward to you revisiting the post PK material. Cheers!
I find the whole story completely fascinating! I am currently reading Grace’s autobio but haven’t arrived at that stage yet…
I only remember ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ from the 80’s! It was only about 10 years ago that I heard ‘We Built This City’ but only in the past 2 I knew it was by Starship. This was about the same time my friend showed me ‘White Rabbit’ and ‘Somebody to Love’. I knew Grace was cool, but in the last 3 weeks I have become completely obsessed and now I want to know the whole story!
The only cd I own so far is ‘The Best of Grace Slick’ which has given me an introduction and overview. I love all the songs - psychedelic, ballads, heavy rock, synthesiser, jazz…I just love her voice.
Today I am loving all of the stuff towards the end of Kantner’s time with the Starship. Whilst I love the 2 songs I know of Starship without him, I haven’t heard any of the stuff yet, so who knows!
Just going to put it out there now that I am probably unlike any other, as I adore 80’s Starship as much as 60’s Jefferson Airplane. There, I said it.
That’s why I love listening to Grace so much, as she’s so versatile. Yes, the latter stuff was commercial and she isn’t a mad fan, but it doesn’t make me love it any less. I’m no music snob and to me there’s good and bad in all music and artists. So I will be promoting my love of latter-day stuff (WE BUILT THIS CITY!!!) as well on here. Just a warning. ;)
Omg just heard this one and I absolutely adore it! Grace’s comeback after a 3 year break…how incredible does she look?
